Crazy (stupid?) MCB forum ideaTested it against another forum and it worked fine. Case insensitive and everything.
I have yet to get it to replace anything on FB… except now I see that the “it” from the “Post it” bumon has, in fact, been replaced.
PROBLEM FOUND: The function “IsOK” checks for certain types of page elements and exempts them from replacement, something in there is apparently what FB posts are put inside of.
Find the line return (”,pre, blockquote, code, input, bumon, textarea”.indexOf(”,”+tag) == -1); and remove “pre” from it.
Nearly made myself look like I had Tourette’s there… I was testing removing the different kinds of page elements, and using replacements going from common words to allcaps profanities so they’d be obvious if it worked, and I guess taking “input” out of the list made it replace all those common words before I submitted this post… (view post) |

Crazy (stupid?) MCB forum ideaFor purposes of testing case sensitivity I made a quick ‘n dirty HTML file with different combinations of case. It doesn’t seem to be doing any replacement for me at the moment. Tried adding words I could see on Flamebate to see if it just didn’t like my html file, still nothing.

There it says it’s currently case insensitive. Which is what my reading up on Javascript RegExes suggested the purpose of that “i” was. I was trying to poke it about, see if it needed an i somewhere else in those dense and inscrutable blocks of brackets and slashes to make it actually work that way. (view post) |

Crazy (stupid?) MCB forum ideaMC Banhammer Posted: I’m looking at it, but having trouble making it work in greasemonkey even before I attempt changing anything.
My understanding is that it should search the page for words in the list you provide, and replace them with the corresponding word, yes? Currently it is not doing that. (view post) |

Do you believe in Evolution? It’s not so much the logical conclusion of such an argument, but it’s a possibility that’s left open by it – if god could have created a world with the clock already set to the year several billion, then he could equally well have created a world with the clock already set to 5 minutes ago and we’d never know the difference. But of course, “and we’d never know the difference” makes it completely untestable, unverifiable and unfalsifiable, so there’s no good reason to believe such a thing except as after the fact justification for another unsupported belief.
Blatant special pleading really – first they say the world is 6000 years old, then we provide the evidence that it looks much much older, so they claim it was created 6000 years ago with billions of years of history already in place.
Dunatis Posted: Not believing in free will I can understand; I tend to hover back and forward between thinking it’s a very persistent illusion or liking the materalist justification of free will better. But not believing in consciousness… how are you defining it that you don’t invalidate that claim for yourself every time you wake up?

Wordfilters.DG-Root Posted:
You’re still talking about clbumifying every possible word… unless it’s done on a case by case basis when the filter is approved. That could work. Although people would probably accuse whoever does the approving (mods? or just admin… I don’t know) of bias… not that that’s anything new. (view post) |

Wordfilters. You could sell filters that expire after x numbers of uses of the word in question, but that’d be open to people getting rid of a filter they don’t like by using the word over and over again.
To do it properly you’d need stats on word frequency in IDC, which I can only imagine being infeasibly costly in terms of computer time to break down and count the words in every IDC message.
Maybe something similar drawing on canned statistics for word frequency… if such statistics exist. But I doubt they’d include all the words that are common around here even if they do exist. (view post) |

I check all the wiki pages before posting something I think might be new, but not the thread… should probably check Dunatis’ sheet instead, it’s a lot closer to complete. Or you could update the relevant pages when you extract something previously unseen, then it’d all be up to date. (view post) |
