How many people actually take trophies as a factor for who to attack rather than just attack anyone in the lead?

I just won two medals, probably by the skin of my teeth. I was leading fine, and got attacked six times in the half an hour from when I finished my turns to when the competition ended.

If they were targeting people based on trophies, wouldn’t I have been safe?

And yes, I freely admit that I’m bragging a bit about finally getting trophies.
