The only difference between fetishes of any nature is 100% societal convention. Being gay was just as bad 50 years ago as pedophilia, and was even called a mental illness. I’m not saying that’s right, and I’m aware that gays don’t indulge in abuse every time they indulge their sexuality.

However, as a deviant myself, it’s quite plain to me that the only difference between what someone gets off on and someone else is what the majority of society judges it to be.

That’s what I mean. As far as the consequences of indulgement, the person who gets off to enjoy and pedophilia creates a lot more suffering than someone who likes sounding or coprophilia. For those reasons, they should be punished. However, mentally, they’re the exact same thing.

One could consider heterosexuality the same way.
