I realize we’re in RP (and my suggestion took that into account), but your response seems not RPing so I’d like to respond in kind to one particular line. If someone wants to point me to which of the multitude of non-RP threads you think my comment below belongs in, I’ll be glad to repost it there.

As far as “disrupting a good thread” goes… well, that’s both subjective and kinda hypocritical when spamming and trolling and off-topic posts are allowed in RP threads that don’t involve player nudity.

This is EXACTLY it.

I was deciding on sticky threads almost single-handedly before even tubs was a mod. “Girllss… post yer mammary glands!!” and “ITT: Shoe on Head pics!” seemed to me to be quintessential “camwhore” threads and as such, I stickied them. It had nothing to do with being “good” or not, it had to do with defining the clbum. Similarly, I stickied “ANGRY HOBO’S EMPORIUM OF GOATSES” in the Trollhole because posting goatse seems to be a defining Troll quality.

When people came along and started trolling up the camwhore ones, I thought to myself “Trolls go everywhere on this site, but the other clbumes don’t. I’d like to protect the “defining” threads from incursion. One or two threads per RP forum like that shouldn’t be a big deal. Let’s see what ET thinks,” and that’s when the rule was born.

Over time I added “ITT: Post Your male reproductive organ or Vag” and ”:emote:” to the list because I thought the former qualified, and the latter I wanted to protect for an eventual move into FoW.

It worked pretty well, no complaints, until more threads became stickied as new personalities gained the ability. I personally would never have stickied “Post your forehead with some short bangs” or “Worst Poster Idol!”, but someone else (I don’t know who) did, and so it became protected.

Clearly, there’s subjectivity involved, and we mods should probably discuss what should and should not be stickied when there’s protection involved. But I’ll fight hard against removing the protection.
