The concept of “I” is generated by the arrangement of cells in our body. We respond to stimuli as a whole, managed by our endocrine and nervous systems. To successfully respond, the body coordinates temperature, movement, reflexes, and thought as a collective unit. This is what causes the “illusion” of consciousness. We are aware of our own experience because it allows us to interact with our environment more effectively and socialize better.
