It’s not too much because of the weird fetishes, but more because of the “ZOMG IT’S A LIFESTYLE!!1!” behavior they have. It irritates people, mainly nerds. It’s not anymore abnormal than numerous other fetishes out there, but the forcing it into the public eye is what causes people to rage.
