Well it’s always going to be a balance between too easy and too difficult. Right now it’s too difficult. It’s the distinction between a goal which is satisfyingly difficult (you’re pleased with your achievement) and one which is frustratingly difficult (you’re glad it’s over) Or one that’s just impossible.

Once you’ve achieved your goal (and acquired the peen or whatever) then surely it’s time to focus on another goal. If there isn’t one (the player has done all there is to do) then it’s up to the game designer to provide one, or lose a customer.
