So today is Mardi Gras.
A pity it has to come on such an unexceptional Tuesday, in the middle of Winter, cause if it were later I’m sure it would have a much wider celebration than in New Orleans.
But I envy those folks. They’ve had nearly a continuous string of celebrations, starting with the Superbowl, then Valentine’s, then President’s Day, and now Mardi Gras.

Tomorrow is the first day of lent. This is the last day of sinning for a while. Also the last day to use up forbidden foods like milk and eggs or whatever (I don’t know the rules), so in some places it’s called Pancake Day which is way better than Mardi Gras, imho.

Let’s Get this straight right now. I actually live in New Orleans. Those pictures Were from September 2005(The month right after Katrina) After 3 and a half years we have almost completely recovered.(and yes the water is gone)
Now getting back to the original topic: Living in New Orleans right now great!
Just to give you the scope of things down here: the schools were closed the day after the Super Bowl, the schools have off this whole week, companies who own buildings downtown are paying their engineers double-time and a half to get them to work today, it takes 1 hour to travel one city block because of the crowds, and at midnight the cops come out with 3/4 of their force just to clear out one street.
Getting back to my original point, living in New Orleans is amazing
P.S. I agree with OrsonScottCard, President’s day isn’t that important down here |
