Table sorting is broken

I don’t know if it’s just opera, but when you try to sort the music files by offense the 30 or pink floyd appears after a “3” when it should be on the top of the list

It’s not broken, it’s that whoever filled the table did it wrong.
The values are text fields, not numbers. So 3<blank> comes before 30 comes before 4<blank>
The entire table needs to use double digits (03 instead of 3) for it to sort numerically. |

Kind of curious as to what you searched. It seems to always show up in the top 6 searches for the word “moar” and I can’t think what else one would search with. |

Mentally replace “suck at searching” with “did not search”
As said, I’d made an equivalent spreadsheet for myself anyway, (bumuming that no links from the main ‘Moar Files’ page = does not exist) then putting it into wiki syntax didn’t take that much doing and I posted the thing without considering that it might already exist.
Now it turns out it’s broken because spreadsheets know how to handle/sort numbers properly because that’s what they’re made for, and wikis don’t because they’re made for text, and it already existed anyway and I wasted some time… no regrets though, it killed some otherwise dead time, and I learned some potentially useful ways of moving large numbers of cells around in Calc. man-man edited this message on 06/10/2009 10:07PM |
