AMD: cheaper, more dependable, better motherboard options, and not in bed with Micro$oft. |

Intel because it’s more prevalent and I don’t really care. |

I prefer the AMD chipset if only because they are cheaper, they run better with bootstrapped systems and they are much easier to cool. That and it is much easier to build miniITX boards for amd processors as intel likes to run their procs at around ignition temperature without cooling. |

Intel for extreme performance quad cored desktops.
My overclocked Q6600 is outdated and a beast. I’m debating a full system upgrade for the i7 platform because the difference in encoding and overall performance has proven to be astounding.
Q6600 blew me away, it’d be really cool to have that happen again in such a short time.
I used to have an AMD athlon platform and was turned off by the extreme heat. I know they’ve changed in thermal properties but I don’t buy budget parts anymore. |

Eh, I’d say, whatever your budget is.
I was [am?] an avid NVidia/Intel fanboy, but as of lately I am beginning to think x2 AMD/ATI-based PC would be a good upgrade. |
