ITT: Best movie quotes ever“Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a ****ing big television…Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows…Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrbumment to the selfish, ****ed-up brats that you’ve spawned to replace yourselves…But why would I want to do a thing like that?
I chose not to choose life. I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you’ve got heroin?” Mark Renton, Trainspotting (view post) |

ITT: A Recipe For Delicious BBQ SauceI once got startled in a mountain hut by a man who made a BBQ type sauce with a tin of cola and an oxo cube…true story.
Cola Chicken Take 4 Chicken legs, coated in seasoned flour* and fry skin side down until brown, turn, chuck in a chopped onion and a couple of crushed garlic cloves and fry til the onion goes clear. Crumble in a beef stock cube and pour over a 330 ml tin of (full fat) cola, and a tin of sweetcorn. Add vinegar/worcestershire sauce*/tabasco* as preferred or available. simmer for 20 minutes, basting all the while, during which time the cola reduces to a sticky gloop, serve with instant mash^, and (given we were up a scottish hill) a ****load of Laphroaig^.
*Denotes subsequent refinements to the recipe that took place in domestic kitchens ^Denotes mountain hut specific accompaniments. Mind you, Laphroaig is the dog’s bollocks. (view post) |

I Am Buying BooksAs well as others mentioned, I thought Luke Rhinehart’s “Diceman”, and Chris Bachelder’s “Bear V Shark” were pretty good. On the back of a trip to Budapest, I loved Tibor Fischer’s “Under the Frog”, but I’m not sure how context-specific my enjoyment of that was. I really like Christopher Brookmyre’s stuff too, with the caveat that it might not translate all that well outwith Scotland. (view post) |

The itembuildr cycle: Suggestion for changeAre the items’ availabilities going to be limited at all? I’m not sure how it would affect the game dynamic, but if something were to be removed from the co-op after a certain period, then re-appear for a grossly inflated price at auction, it would arguably be more lifelike IMO.
