Nearly all voting is clan basedIt happens, unfortunately. I’m still trying to get a couple of ForumBuildr peens, because the votes are at best completely arbitrary most of the time. I try to be as honest as possible with my voting, but the simple fact is that a lot of people just downvote everything, and if you reach -5, there’s no coming back up.

Suggestions CompilationI’m probably not the first to suggest this, but can we have an updated Addiction Level in the profile, that links to your Spoilerpedia edits, INCIT wins, etc, rather than just say how many there are?
In fact, can Spoilerpedia edits be linkable from the public profile? I’d like to know what articles I’ve worked on so I can revisit them and see if there’s more I can add. Even if this feature already exists, I can’t find it, which means there’s an incentive to make it easier to find. (view post) |

Pascal's Wager converted me from Catholicism to Agnosticism!Actually, a monkey’s head was removed and transplanted onto another one’s body once, and they managed to wake it up. It was paralyzed from the neck down, but responded to them by snapping at their fingers with its teeth and following them with its eyes. It was clearly alive, just paralyzed. It didn’t survive for very long though.

Pascal's Wager converted me from Catholicism to Agnosticism!man-man, I can certainly understand what you mean, but there have been successful brain transplants, as well as putting people to sleep during operations, which involves switching the body off.
And anyway, as you say, the brain itself switches off and dies. But what is it INSIDE the brain that makes us, well, us? Consciousness, for certain. I’d prefer to call it the soul. Like I say, its not something I’m entirely sure of yet, but something I’m certainly willing to consider. (view post) |

I certainly believe in something spiritual, since I find it almost ridiculous to believe that our fleeting lives are all that there is, but I also believe in a soul of sorts. People can be revived from drowning, or their hearts can be jump-started, and those are states that you could clbum as ‘death’. Yet, when people die good and proper, there’s no coming back. So, what disappears at that point? The consciousness. If heartbeat can be brought back, then why can’t the consciousness?
