If FWZ went open source, two things would happen: 1- It would get forked. There will be a free version of it the very next day. 2- Everyone will be able to implement their ideas without need for ET to do it. 	Petition To make ForumWarz Open Source Evil Trout Posted: I’m a big fan of open source technologies. Forumwarz runs on a **load of them (Linux, Ruby, Rails, mysql, memcached, sphinx, Haml, monit, probably dozens of others.) Having said that, I’m not convinced it really works for games, or at least it hasn’t so far. I’m much more willing to help expose APIs to any developers who want to work on Forumwarz than give out all our source code. As some other people mentioned, if I gave it out, someone could in theory start up a copycat site, make BP free and put us out of business Log in to see images!** Couldn’t someone already do that if they really wanted to. 	Petition To make ForumWarz Open Source TUBSWEETIE Posted: I cannot see any reason why open-sourcing would benefit the site at all. I’m sure if you actually had the knowledge to make an INCIT app for the Iphone ET would help you out and supply some code. But that’s not open source and a very specific case. All I see happening is people re-hosting the game on external sites making crappy parodies of a parody. Some people could do cool stuff with some of the source. He knows who they are and if ET wanted he could contract them in with a non-disclosure agreement to do specific work. Maybe creeppipe on the iphone, invariel on the dom page sort of thing. How would ET actually know who to seek out to do these things. I think if ForumWarz was Open Source in a sort of way like GenerichHaxor just suggested it work out where all those things would get done in a faster and more efficient manner than just having ET going on an endless search to find people to do stuff for him.
