Give it a shot. Start with the 2005 series and you will be fine. If you enjoy that there are hundreds of hours of stuff to watch from the 60’s up to the 80’s. There are also books, Audio books, Comics, and a spin off series(torchwood which is coming to america on starz soon)

surely you mean like 3 spinoff series – torchwood, sarah jane adventures, doctor who – dreamland and theres another cartoon in there but i forgot its name, not to mention doctor who confidential and totally doctor who that are not spinoffs per se but they are shows about doctor who
