First of all, this was hillarious and I loved every second of it.
Secondly,
In response to a question about his Germanic roots, Von Trier set off on a long and twisted answer that, if this were America, not Cannes, would have meant career suicide.
Writer obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Calling yourself a Nazi in Europe is a HELL of a lot worse than doing so in America. American’s would’ve just gotten a giggle out of it and moved on. Log in to see images!
Thirdly, this was just a guy who stupidly let his mouth go, and a lot of people took it too far (rightly so, I will add). He tried his best to tell people he wasn’t anti-semitic…he really did. It just kind of came out as:
