I played the original about two years ago and liked it a lot.

And from the dev of the beta, the game sounds rather sweet in spite of the major gameplay changes.

But the story, man. SCI had just enough story to flavour the battles, but not so much that it dominated the player experience. SCII sounds like it’s going to have the same problem Warcraft III did with a stupid story taking over everything.

Blizzard should take a few cues from Valve. It’s almost like they’ve forgotten they make RTS and believe everything is RPG.
