The 19th FIFA World Cup is coming, and with it this contest, which offers 19 BP to the person who better predicts its matches.
Contest’s rules:
##################################################
1) Every person can participate with one character only. I will request a mod to verify this before I give out the BP.
If two or more characters (alts) from the same person participate, all their posts will be considered null and void.
No trolling. Feel free to talk about World Cup matches or events related to it but remember it’s Civil Discussion.
##################################################
2) To participate you have to reply to this thread with your predictions.
For each round of matches presented, you can submit one (1) unedited post with your results before the established deadline.
Your post will contain one result per line, stating match number and outcome.
Here’s an example of a round (actual rounds will be posted later on, so don’t use this example to participate):
Match 1: South Africa – Mexico
Match 2: Uruguay – France
Deadline: 11 June 2010 10:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time
For results purposes, winning team on the left will be Home, winning team on the right will be Away, and a tie between them will be a Draw.
Thus, if you think Mexico (Away) will defeat South Africa while Uruguay and France will tie (Draw), your post should be like this:
1 Away
2 Draw
For each correct result you will get half point (0.5) added to your score. There will be no points (0) for incorrect results.
Edited posts and posting on or after the established deadline will render those results null and void.
##################################################
3) Contest’s winner will be the contestant who scores 19 points first, or
the one that has more points than anyone else on July 11 2010 9:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.
In the event of a points tie, the contestant who scored them in the least number of matches will be the winner.
If tie still persists (i.e. equal points and matches,) BP will be awarded to more than one contestant by these criteria:
A tie of two: 10 and 9 BP. A tie of three: 7, 6 and 6 BP. A tie of four: 6, 5, 4 and 4 BP.
BP tie-breaker: in the round where the contest reaches its conclusion, results posted earlier get higher amount of BP.
If there is a tie of five or more: a RNG will select one (1) contestant among all valid contestants who participated in the contest.
Numbers from one (1) to total number of valid contestants will be bumigned to contestants in alphabetical order based on their characters names.
The contestant matching the number picked by the RNG will receive 19 BP.
