“Problem Child IV”

Just my two euro cents, but…

“This little planet” is kind of hard to destroy. Earthquakes, tsunamis and all that are part of the nature of the planet, and are doing it no harm whatsoever. Shortening of days by, oooh, whole microseconds is about as meaningful as the fact that the distance to the moon lengthens by a few centimeters each year. It has been happening all along, and it will still be happening when humanity is nothing but a long-extinct species nobody cares about even if there is someone around to potentially care about something.

Even if the climate goes wonky, all land sinks into the sea and there’s 40 years of constant winter, that still wouldn’t even seriously threaten the existence of life on Earth, much less the actual planet. Anything big enough to take the planet out would be pretty damn big and we probably would have seen it coming.

We humans may well all die, though I don’t think it particularly likely either, but there’s nothing going on that would threaten the planet in any meaningful way.
