It just so happens that I myself am a huge troll. Allow me to give you a few small tips:
1. Don’t be downright stupid. The most successful trolls are the ones who say things that are stupid, but tangible. If you say something downright ridiculous, people will ignore you. Say something controversial and coherent, with reasoning to back you up, and you’ll kick up a ****STORM.

This is a good example. I made this thread in spite of other “Which X Band album would you want to see Dream Theater perform?” threads, knowing full well that mentioning DragonForce would kick off some arguing. As you can see, page 1 is full of dismissals, but the latter pages are full of people bickering with each other and elitist snobbery. This is what you want to aim for; it makes people forget that you’re a big smelly troll.
2. Know when to stop. It’s fun, yes, but you don’t want to get banned. If you want to go all out, then go ahead. But if you want to stick around and make people groan at your presence several months on, know where to toe the line as you can avoid a ban and continue with irritating people.
3. Appear honest. If you really sound like you embody your opinions and don;t sound sarcastic, people will take you more seriously. They’ll also attempt to attack you more aggressively, which is funny.
