To quote a spanish band:
“Our father, of all of us, of the poor, of the homeless, of the hurt and defenseless, of the damned and owners of misery and of those, who we no longer believe in you
Step down from the heavens because here’s hell Step down from your throne since here you’ll find war… hunger.. injustice! There’s no need for you to be three in a trinity. With only one that’s willing to help would suffice.
Which is your reign? The Vatican? Wall Street? High politics? Our reign is Nigeria, Ethiopia, Colombia, Hiroshima Our daily bread is raping, gender violience, pedophilia, dictatorships, the climate change.
In temptation I am lead daily, I cannot wake up without the temptation of creating a humble God, a fair God. A God who is in the earth, on the valleys, on the rivers, a God that lives the rain, travels across the winds, and soothes our souls.
A God of the unhappy, of the homosexuals. A humanitarian God… A God who doesn’t punish, but teaches. A God who doesn’t threat, but protects.
A God that if I fall, he picks me up, that if I get lost, he holds out his hand. A God that if I err won’t blame me, and if I doubt, understands me Since that’s why he gave me intelligence, to doubt everything.
Our father, of all of us, why have you forgotten us? Our father, blind, deaf and egocentric, WHY have you abandoned us?”
Ignoring the fallacies implied, this is a nice poem. It also fits quite nicely on the discussion, and sums up the general view of the catholic religion from un-catholic people. |
