I’ve been trying to keep track of the statistics on my entries accepted and -5s for the past 40 weeks and of my ratio of upvotes to downvotes for the past 20 weeks. The figures will be slightly flawed as I often end up checking them on a Sunday afternoon rather than waiting until 10 minutes before voting closes.

As far as I can tell, it’s really bloody difficult to get anything other than +2 to my buildr score!

I’ve had weeks where I’ve had far more -5s than entries accepted (last week I had 4 entries accepted and 14 -5s, mostly forum ideas and enemy avatars). I’ve always had +2 in these weeks.

I’ve had weeks where I’ve had almost as many downvotes as upvotes (4 weeks ago I had 475 upvotes and 428 downvotes) and still got +2. Remember that if you’re halfway decent at buildr and you have lots of entries then it would be very difficult indeed to get more downvotes than upvotes overall – your worst entries are limited to 5 more downvotes than upvotes while your best entries have no cap on how many more upvotes they can get.

If anyone can think of any other info I should be tracking then I’ll happily contribute to any future research attempt to pool everyone’s numbers!
