Not necessarily true. Any editing, including (and especially) a page about yourself is supposed to be sourced. As long as you are putting in facts that can be proven (as opposed to something that only you know), there should be no problem.

This is true. There is absolutely no restriction on simply fixing typos, since those don’t have to be fact-checked.
