Now this brings me back to the days when this **** was the real-deal. Dirty kids in high-water cords, crashing on the couches of art collectives, eating hare krsna meals or food not bombs every day, and emo shows that never once made you think about love or depression- just anger, seething hate, alienation, and hostility. Politics too! The idea of the sg with a marshall stack was redefined from arena rock staples to feedback machines; tools you had to beat against one another to produce the desired effect.
Indian Summer epitomized the early emocore sound. They harnessed the feedback and distortion and filtered them through a diy punk aesthetic which all but guaranteed a (posthumous) cult following.
