I’d recommend pretty much anything by Tom Robbins. Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates entertained me greatly.
I also really enjoyed Neal Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle (Quicksilver, The Confusion and The System of the World) I can only describe it as a dramatised historical novel. Takes a look at events of the late 17th/early 18th century with a whole lot of fictional characters thrown in with the key figures of that time (Including Newton and Leibniz, among others) Certainly one of those rare books that actually made me laugh out loud while reading it. |
