Briddy, at first I too was on the side of our tormentors. I felt above it all, as if I shouldn’t be aggravated by such a tiny thing. But as I sat typing out yet another retort to this Tom business I realized something.

I was hurt. I was in pain. The words I was typing were not true. Each sentence sent a stab of pain through my abdomen, each paragraph was an excruciating shock that racked my body.

I was lying. I couldn’t face the truth. I couldn’t understand how a fellow klan member could hurt me, so I made myself believe it didn’t hurt.

But I can’t lie any longer. I can no longer defend the indefensible actions of these monsters.
