Gumshoe walked slowly, towards the wreckage. If whoever abducted Gent was still there, he’d died with him. There was no movement. No screams.
Probably… probably broke his neck before he even… even… what… the hell? T-Trent! Get over here!
It wasn’t Gentlemens car. It was a blue Stratus. But that didn’t matter. Gent had left his car back at the Service Station anyway. The interesting part was the license plate, pointing up towards them, so anyone could clearly see it from the road.

Gumshoe, keep Monkey away from the rail for a minute. I’m going to bag a sample of the…biological evidence on the rail for ID. That’s a drop of several hundred feet and scrub woods to boot. Gumshoe walked away from the wreck, across the road. He felt numb all over. His right hand reached into his pocket and pulled out a Lucky Strike. Bringing it to his lips, Gumshoe lit it and inhaled deeply
And then exhaled.
The smoke drifted up and dissipated. Gumshoe was not a religious man. But deep down, he hoped that the smoke would reach all the way up to heaven.
