Firefox 3 | |||||||

This morning Firefox 3 will be released.
In case you were wondering, Forumwarz is compatible with it — I’ve been running it on one of my machines here for a couple of weeks with no problems.
I highly suggest you upgrade, especially if you’re on a Mac! It’s much better. |

Oh and forumwarz + ff3, sweet deal.
Oh while you’re here, could you fix the automatic url tag sucking when the link isn’t at the bottom of the post? Echuu edited this message on 06/17/2008 11:25AM |

Sweet! Been waiting for the official release, too lazy to mess with the beta. |

Been using the betas and release candidates for a while. I think they even have a version of firebug that is 3.0 compliant |

Hmmmm, hope the file won’t be too big, I’m shaped back to dial-up speeds at the moment.
Maybe I’m just easily amused, but does anyone else find the idea of using the internet to download the internet funny in a way? Log in to see images! |

It’s great, they removed the memory-hog “feature”. |

I never noticed any memory hogging.
I did notice that IDC lags the hell out of other windows of firefox, though. Wonder if FF3 will have that happen. |

Firefox 2, as much as I love it, would crash at least 2-3 times a day if I was doing heavy AJAX development. There were definite memory problems on Javascript heavy sites.
I haven’t crashed Firefox 3 once doing the same thing, so it is miles and miles better in that respect. |

They finally launched it!
My mirror if you want to grab it now (and then download officially later for the record). Echuu edited this message on 06/17/2008 2:50PM |

So far I like it except for the “awesome bar.” I know it was voted the most popular new feature but I find it terribly annoying. For anyone who feels the same way here’s an extension that reverts the functionality of the previous address bar:

Or “about:config” and set “browser.urlbar.RichResults” to 0 or false.
Apparently, I’m still trying to download the fecker! |

Apparently, Adblock is not currently supported on this version. This makes me a sad panda.
Also, the performance improvements, which are the main reason I downloaded this, seem to be working backwards for me. It’s much worse. I’m going to reboot and see if that fixes it, otherwise I’m going to try to revert to V2. |

An awful lot of my extensions aren’t compatible with it. They most likely will be in a few weeks, but it still makes me all Log in to see images! |

Wow, I didn’t know anyone actually used vanilla adblock.
I’d suggest getting Adblock Plus tbh. |
