Regarding DoomRL, I would gladly try one, but I don’t think I can handle running two of these games at once. I’d have to take a break from the priest in that case. So I think I’ll continue with this one.

The Coward setting gives a huge boost to DV, making nasty things like traps more easily dodged. There’s no drawback to using it as long as you’re not attacking, and you can always switch back to whatever tactic you want before you do.
