That makes sense. Sometimes when I’m writing dialogue for something, I’ll get way to into it and realize “hey, I have to cut at least have this stuff out, or else it’ll suck”. But I think the hallmark of any good artist is in feeling your work is never good enough.

I really picked a bad time to do this, with the Podcast coming up, so I’ll try to do another one after Episode 2. So I’ll ask just a couple more questions…

What can we expect from upcoming equipment? Nothing to spoilerish, of course, but will we being seeing unique item abilities beyond modification of stats? Something like…”+3 ego restoration a turn” or “Deals 3 damage to a thread every turn if you’re evil”?

2. Movies? I love film, I think it’s easily the single most powerful art form out there for a variety of reasons. What kind of stuff do you watch?

I watch a lot of horror, and a lot of the deep, ideological indie hits like Donnie Darko, Boondock Saints, etc.

Catcher in the Rye is one of those books you read expecting it to identify with you, but I read it and at the end I was just feeling like “What?” Sure I bet the chump who was narrating felt all original back when he wrote the book. Now, though, people have imitated it so much it’s like his opinions have become so commonplace they’re just phony.

I kind of felt the same way when I first read it, but as time went on I grew to appreciate it as a brilliant portrayal of adolescence.

The book isn’t about Holden’s opinions, it’s about what he’s experiencing.

A lot of it just felt irrelevant to me, though. You know the part with the nuns? That killed me.
