So Crotch Zombie came up with a bunch of reasons for banning, and I’m in charge of enforcing them. But I thought, maybe what CZ thinks is okay isn’t really okay with the majority of our user base. And maybe what they don’t like, nobody else sees a problem with. And I want to serve the user base as well as CZ; I’m ****ty that way.

So in this thread, let’s hear what behavior you think deserves a ban. Posts which stretch the page too far horizontally? Cursing too much in a Game Discussion post? Posting surprise gay male porn? Something else? (Believe it or not, all of these have been reported to the mods at one point or another.)

Also, which rule do you think is just ridiculous? No all-caps in non-RP forums? Nudity constraints? Something else? (No embedded shock, no linking to hijacking sites, and personal info revelations are NOT on the table.)

After this has run for a while we’ll tally up the votes and maybe make some changes. (No guarantees, though.)

Please make it clear in your post your number 1 rule you’d add, and/or your number 1 rule you’d remove. While all comments will be reviewed, if we can’t easily tell what you’d like changed we’re not likely to do anything about it.

Keep in mind this thread is in Game Discussion, and those current rules apply. No including nude images to make a point, no trolling, no saying “everyone in TSB” or “Ban Velveteen”, etc.

I think the less rules the better. Especially in the rp forums. Adding more ways to get banned there will cause nothing but grief.

Honestly I’m not fond of an exhaustive list of reasons for banning because it just encourages people to ride the line of acceptable or even worse to mini-mod other posters. A less defined line insures that either people behave somewhat or they risk a ban. Needless to say several posters (primarily TSB) will continue to wildly flaunt the rules in order to achieve the lulz.

But remove the boldcaps banning rule, it’s lame to ban Pants for posting in character.

Added:Asking for E-Peen for yourself that CZ hasn’t explicitly stated they would give to you.

Oh, and I don’t think there should be a punishment for derailing any thread in the rp section.

Well, are we talking about temp bans or perma bans? A temp ban may often be appropriate but perma bans should really only be done after unexcusable violations of the rules of after several temp bans. A to heavy moderation of the forums can destroy the awesome Forumwarz community. A certain degree of trolling and dumb****ery is part of the game – just not in Game Discussion.

Also some people just have nothing worthwhile to contribute to Game Discussion but that’s not necessarily a reason to ban them also from the Role Playing forums, so I suggest that (if that is technically possible) they should still be allowed to post in the Role Playing and their Klan forums. Maybe there are other, less rigid consequences for violations of the rules, like not to get forum visits for a week or exclusion from domination – of course such punishments wouldn’t discourage all people because they are not that interested in these parts of the game. Here the Mods would have to show judgement.

Maybe we could have an official “warned” status that lasts for a set period of time (maybe coming with a posting limit). You’d get a notification and the reason you were warned. Commit another violation during your warning gets you at least temp banned.

Retained (but maybe reduced to 2 or 3 warnings before ban): All caps in non-RP forums. Non-RP forums are out of character. Noone should be responding to anything in an in-character way.

Not Added: Derailing a RP thread. RP forums are Role playing. Maybe an emokid creates a thread, knowing (OOC) that it’ll probably be derailed, giving him more reason (IC) to cry and maybe hate trolls. A Camwhore could do the same thing for similar reasons.

If your thread is sufficiently serious that you don’t want it derailed, then don’t post it in an RP forum. RP forums should have the least rules.

Also not added: For acting OOC in IC environments.
