Lately I’ve been going through and rereading favorites. – Martian Chronicles – Ray Bradbury – Good Omens – Gaiman/Pratchett – Join Me – Danny Wallace – American Gods – Gaiman
All are recommended.
Love Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 (which becomes more and more accurate every damn day). Agatha Christie is like candy. Log in to see images! |

“De avonden” (The Evenings) by Gerard Reve (one of the clbumics of post-war Dutch literature) and “Lolita” by Vladimir Nabokov are books I regularly re-read. Right now I’m working through “Gödel, Escher, Bach” by Douglas Hofstadter if that counts. |

I strongly suggest any of you to read anything by Amy Hempel. She is a wonderful writer. “In the cemetery where Al Jolson is buried” is the saddest thing that I have read. twas edited this message on 05/31/2008 2:50AM |

Oddly enough, I’m not reading anything at the moment. But I am trying ot figure out what I want to read next…I have been meaning to go through my boxes and dig out a few I haven’t read in a while. Life of Pi is definitely on that list, as is Good Omens. XD
Hmmmm…last book I finished was a collection of short Daniel Pinkwater stories. Guh, I need to catch up on the Dresden Files, too.
I remember why I stopped reading as much…I tend to not sleep because I want to finish the book I’m on, even if I’ve got 1000+ pages to go. XD |

I think it’s written very well, but it’s been a slow read for me. I am enjoying it though! |

I finished Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas a while back. The movie is almost too faithful to the book, after watching the movie the book almost felt like a novelization and not a separate entity.
I mean, that’s sort of the point I guess, but it’s a lot of fun watching a movie like fight club and then reading the book, since the book has a lot of alternate scenes and different plot elements while still making up the same general story.
The best way to describe it is reading a non-fiction book about WW2, then going to the comic rack and finding a comic about an alternate universe WW2 where Hitler rides a ****-off huge mecha-dinosaur that shoots lasers out of its eyes. Actually, that’s a really bad way to describe it, and this is a terrible post. I apologize. |

It would have been different if you’d read the book before seeing the movie probably. |

Sorry I meant Fear and Loathing, I was just bumuming you saw the movie first. The movie does follow the book closely. |

Terry Pratchett. Anything is good, really. I particularly enjoyed Going Postal and his collaboration with Neil Gaiman in Good Omens. |
