Emo Ego Percentage | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
I have made a sample of my attacks with I Have Issues. It is known that Emo Ego damage bonus is based on percentage of current Ego to max Ego. Since I am not good at math, I need you to figure out a formula based on my data. Here is a chart of my data:

It’s not based on your chart – but try this.
damageDealt = round(round(baseDamage*(1+.75(%dead)))*(1+(offense-1)/13))
I didn’t do much checking after I got that as I generally spade w/ average mario who’s a camwhore, so I’m not 100% sure. Let me know if it matches up.
— edit: doh – I suck at typing – the outer part should be 1+(offense-1)/13 not 1-(offense-1)/13 same as the regular damage forumula seanpg71 edited this message on 04/20/2008 7:34AM |

you mean something like y = -x/2 + 1?

Not sure what good + 1 does you there. You’d want y ~= -x/2 + 50 if you wanted to approximate that graph. The problem is – finding the slope isn’t real useful. The amount of extra damage you do is based on your offense as well as you ego, so the slope will be different for each different offense value.
—— Quick Algebra Lesson —— If you have a graph that is linear (straight line) the easiest way to represent that is y = mx + b. m is the slope and b is the y intercept – the y value where the line crosses the y axis.
The slope is the change in y over the change in x for some interval. Just pick one and solve. In this case I’ll use the whole graph. At point1, x = 0, y = 45. At point2 x = 100, y = 0. So – to find m:
point2y - point1y 0 - 45 -45 m = ----------------- = -------- = ----- = -.45 point2x - point1x 100 - 0 100
b is just the y value when x is zero – so 45.
So to describe you graph, you can use y = mx + b, or y = -.45x + 45.

Great posting in Game Discussion, retard.
Isn’t the Ego bonus damage calculated after applying the bonus from Offense? |

Qebafhzn Posted: Chart is pretty useless. Actual pairs (ego %, extra damage) are much cooler. |

No – pretty sure the bonus from offense is calculated after applying the ego bonus. That better explains the 2 value jumps on the graph.
But yes – the graph is partially useless in that any results from it would only work for his current offense. (Ima guess 14) seanpg71 edited this message on 04/20/2008 7:30AM |

Actually the only jumps I see on the graph can be attributed to rounding. |

Qebafhzn – what is your offense?
And if it is in fact 14, did you record any odd numbers? |
