Checkers for historical significance, Socks for cuteness and for being the only presidential pet with a video game. I don’t see how you can really compare Clinton’s cat to Nixon’s dog though. A better question would be Socks or Barney. |

I have to go with Socks. Though I prefer dogs over cats (generally speaking), male reproductive organer spaniels are a terribly inbred variety of canine and they’re too prone to submissive urination for my tastes. I’ve met some I like a lot, but usually I don’t even consider them real dogs.
