i bought tf2 from a local retailer less than a month ago because it was both more convenient and cheaper than downloading from steam (i say more convenient because i didnt have to wait on a download nor weigh down the connection my boyfriend shares with me). if you sell it they will come

I bought the Orange Box because I couldn’t get Steam to work otherwise. Still don’t know why installing from a disk worked where installing from multiple downloads wouldn’t, but hey, Half-Life 2 and Portal. Fair deal, imo.

this is basically gamersgate, direct2drive, and impulse whining that steam is succesful. you know what guys? steam is a **** load better than your services. deal with it.

i gotta say i would like valve to just come back to them with a “y u mad bro?”

Most retail stores don’t even keep stock of PC games anymore. I had to go to a Fry’s Electronics to get TF2.

I think the big advantage for Steam is Valve can have special game promotions like Free Portal or $.25 Half-Life 2, but that hardly hurts retailers of other games.

Those things about steam are what make it a threat to similar retailers. The argument is backwards in relation to the topic.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I have nothing against Steam. They found a functioning, profitable business model and are using the **** out of it. Everyone else is just ****ed they didn’t think of it first.
