Who loves racial stereotypes? | |||||||

Everyone loves them right? Well now here’s some that are justified by SCIENCE
They combed a bunch of dating site profiles for common phrases and split them up by race and gender. So while white guys are all over Tom Clancy and Van Halen, black women apparently love soul food and the colour purple. Latinos of either gender really ****ing love merengue, and just about every group uses “I’m a simple guy” a lot.
They also did some analysis of reading level per religion, and discovered that people of all religions are dumber than atheists, Christians are ****ing very special even compared to the other religious groups, and across the board people get dumber the more “serious” they are about their faith (except atheists; being more serious about their lack of faith made them smarter). True story. |

It looks like somewhat serious buddists are the smartest of all.
And how is it possible to be 100% Agnostic? You’re dedicated to believing there may or may not be a God? |

just pointing out that a profile with the phrase “I hate NASCAR” would still score a hit for “NASCAR” thus exploding this whole thing. |

Technically speaking, those guys are Deists, though I suppose it depends on what they label themselves on their dating profile. That probably explains the ‘dedicated’ Agnostics, at least.
I wonder how many people claim on their profile that they practise a weird religion, like Jedi-ism or Theistic Satanism. Hrm. |

Agnostic in the proper sense means claiming that we don’t know whether or not a god or gods exist, or that it is fundamentally impossible to know. You can still believe or not believe, and be an agnostic, if you don’t claim to be certain about your belief. A “serious” agnostic would, I suppose, be in the latter camp, saying “I don’t know whether there’s a god, neither do you, and we never will”.
I’d count myself agnostic on a very slim technicality; we can’t definitely disprove every possibly god (only the gods that there are testable/falsifiable claims about can be disproven). I don’t believe in any kind of god, but I can’t claim perfect certainty on the matter – call it leprechaun-agnosticism, in that I’d rank god lower than leprechauns on the “likely to exist” scale.
The majority of Buddhists could be counted as atheists too; there is no Buddhist god unless they deify Buddha, so those “somewhat serious Buddhists” could be partly made up of atheists who don’t want to call themselves that because apparently a large part of America hates atheists with a burning fury… those guys, and the “Oh, I’m not religious, I’m spiritual” crowd.
Interesting that they scored so highly above the rest though… man-man edited this message on 09/09/2010 5:55PM |

And I wonder how people practise a religion like Jediism, cause it’s like the only one that could be proven, by using the force that is. You can’t actually be a Jedi if you’re not at least force-sensitive. |
