No hot water | |||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
So, i’ve just woke up and proceeded to go to the bathroom to take a shower. What do I find out? There’s no hot water…. Now how the hell should i clean myself? (and even better: how do i fix this problem without blowing up my house)
pls post some Serious suggestions
Additionally, has anyone tried yet to boil water on the stove and then pour it to the bathtub? How does that work out? |

More often than not I bathe instead of shower. And I like my baths piping hot. So, my normal recipe is 1/4th tub cold water. Turn cold water off, full blast the hot for another 2/4ths. While waiting for it to fill (I have a large garden tub) I have two pots of water on the stove. By the time the tub is done, they usually have just reached a slight boil. I pour those bastards in. Wait about ten minutes (Take this time to poop, or shave, or cue up the radio) for the water to become tolerable. (It should pink the skin) Then enter slowly.
Heaven.
TL;DR Boiling water to bathe is fine, just wait for it to cool. To fill a tub with just that, you may want to put a large pot on all four burners. And it takes about twenty minute to boil, remember that. |

In a pinch I wash my armpits and face in the sink with soap and wet my hair. |

Fight for your freedom against the English. Then, after you’ve cleaned the blood off of your sword, have a deep roll in the snow, then dry yourself off with tempered animal hide. |

This would be the easiest thing to do. Our hot water heater croaked last fall and I just took cold showers for about a week.

Of course we all already knew this since people who like anime usually don’t bathe. sdgrbass09 edited this message on 08/31/2010 1:29AM |

Boiling water on a stove and tipping it into a tub was how people bathed before they had fancy things like hot water on tap. Either do that, or combine it with Fie’s suggestion; heat water, fill sink, wash the parts of you that most need cleaning from there. |

Don’t wait for it to cool, just add more cold water until the temp is where you want it.
OR you could just fix the water heater. I’ve done it plenty of times and I’m just a silly girl, so it can’t be all that hard. Just dust it and relight the pilot light or whatever. |

Word. Showering seems like such a waste of time to me that I have a hard time bringing myself to do it. I don’t get greasy or sweaty or stinky or anything. I spot clean as necessary and my valuable time goes to more productive activities like informing the internet that I don’t shower. |

How cold are we talking? It’s late August so it can’t be that cold (unless you live in Canadialand)
A cold shower every now and then is actually good for you, as long as it doesn’t kill you. |

The problem fixed itself. Since no one has messed with the Water Heater, I bumume that it had turned self-aware and fixed itself since it is working now again. thew00 edited this message on 08/31/2010 12:07PM |
