I played the original about two years ago and liked it a lot.
And from the dev of the beta, the game sounds rather sweet in spite of the major gameplay changes.
But the story, man. SCI had just enough story to flavour the battles, but not so much that it dominated the player experience. SCII sounds like it’s going to have the same problem Warcraft III did with a stupid story taking over everything.
Blizzard should take a few cues from Valve. It’s almost like they’ve forgotten they make RTS and believe everything is RPG. |

The future doesnt look anything like Starcraft. Trust me, I’m from there.
And it was also the cause of at least forty deaths from binge gaming…and this was only following its release. |

I have been biding my time for far too long awaiting the first move of either the Protoss or the Humans. Though I must say that it does not surprise me that it was the humans who would be the first to act. Nor would it surprise me to learn that the Protoss are hoping that I will simply fade into the mists or remain content here on Char.
I must admit though that even I was growing impatient in waiting for some action. Certainly after granting a long enough reprieve to pose at least a minor challenge when I mobilize the mighty Swarm once more, I hope that I will not have to weaken my own strikes in order to prolong my amusement.
I have granted you the first move James, perhaps if it is amusing enough I will spare your life yet again in order to watch you writhe some more.
And to you Zeratul, watch closely and prepare as best you can. For the “mercy” that I grant James will not be extended to you. |

I’ve heard good and bad about it. Never played starcraft, but the matchmaking system sounded nice in SC2 so I really wanted to give it a try, but oh well. |
