Fix my cellphone for 45 BP | |||||||

So here’s the deal, I have a cell phone. It looks very much like this: http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr2_v8-1991.php (That’s not the exact model, but it’s close enough that i think i works the same). And last night, it stopped working. I took it in the bathroom and left it on the sink while I showered, playing music (not an uncommon deal) and when I got out of the shower, it stopped working. I typed about 4 letters, and the keypad stopped responding (all but the END key). So I turned it off and back on, and I couldn’t type in the lock code. So I figured it had water in it, since this happened to me once before (when I dropped this same phone in a toilet), so i let it dry and put it in a bag of rice. Trouble is, it’s still not working. Only the END key responds, so I can turn it on and off, but I really need it to work cause I have some stuff I gotta do. So I’ll give 45 BP to whoever can help me fix my phone. I can give additional details, but understand you are talking to the technological equivalent of a monkey. That’s all. Please help. |

Well first of all, flip phones are the weakest types of phones available, trust me, I’ve had all three types (slide, flip and neither), so they tend to be damaged a lot easier. It could be the moisture entering your phone, but from behind the battery, try taking out the battery and leaving that out to dry for awhile, possibly in rice like you said. Try to make sure all of the parts that connect the battery to the inside are not wet or even slightly damp. Make sure that in the back of the phone, all of the little metal connecting thingies (good technical language here) are clean and not dusty, mine were dirty a few weeks ago and i had to clean them for half of my keypad to work. Well, that’s all i can help without seeing it myself. I’m no expert. Hope i helped. |

sounds like the condensed water kinda went stuck in it or something idk
stick it in the microwave for a bit then try after that. cause there’s probably no way of you fixing that if water’s gotten into it |

Where’d you get the phone from? Verizon’s been p. good to me about swapping out malfunctioning phones. |

Its a Verizon. I’m hesitant to trade it in though, since I want to change my policy and it’ll expire in a few weeks. |

Whatever you do, do not to this. My friend put his phone in a microwave and…well, yeah, mobiles and microwaves don’t work together. I’d say just wait a few weeks and live off other peoples phone or a home phone and you have one, then just get the new model. Or do what i said and try to clean the dirt and stuff from the inside, that could be affecting it. Perhaps take off the keypad and dry the underside? |

Well you’re extremely lucky, microwave guy.
Depending on what type of keypad it is, if its all connected or not, you can level it up like a keyboard. If it’s connected try levering up one corner, not the whole thing, and using a blow dryer or something to warm it up under there. If it’s bumons, open the mobile from the back and look for any place you can use a very small screwdriver, or look at the sides, it should have a point where you can unscrew or break away the phone down the middle symetrically at the seams. |

Also, I pried open the front, but it wasn’t wet after all and it just kinda sat there. I tried literally everything I could think of and nothing. Any more ideas? |
