Alright, for starters, it got its name because down here religious fanaticism is *the* thing to do. Seriously, turning on my GPS there are 6 churches within five miles of me. We’re also home of the “snake handlers”, a form of cult that believes god protects the faithful to the point where they can handle venomous snakes without repercussions. If you’re bitten during services, you are wicked and will burn in hell after your nervous system shuts down. It’s almost like the Salem witch trials, but perfectly condoned. Wait… (seriously, I know of one of those churches about forty-five minutes from me)

Aside from that, you have the staunch racists. The people who never really “got over” the American Civil War. Blacks are to blame for every little thing from the weather to the smog to the klan meetings. On the flip side, we’re also home to the “Dirty South”, a kind of a Mecca for ghetto culture. As a matter of fact, we used to host “Freaknik” which was like a recurring urban Woodstock. Funny, though, because we also host AWA and Dragon-Con. The former being a huge anime convention, the latter being “the countries largest sci-fi and fantasy expo”.

Then there’s the anti-gay movement which is really big here. Almost a bizzaro San-Fran. Not that I’d know, I just bumume. Rednecks as far as the eye can see.

So, in conclusion, life in the bible belt is just like the internet. If you can make it here, you can really make it ^here^.
