Hello and Welcome to the 2nd Annual Official Oscars Prediction Pool.

To those of you who missed our events last year, they have been archived for your viewing pleasure.

As before, this is a gambling pool, not a contest. You pay upfront to enter, and it is winner take all (or half in the case of a tie like last year). Still interested? Well read on for the full set of rules.

RULES

Transfer 10 BP (Entry Fee) to me (handofg0d). Then post your prediction of one winner per category (exception of 2 winners for Best Picture) in each of the listed categories and tie-breaker categories. Note you MUST indicate fist pick and second pick.

The person with the most points based on correct predictions will be given the prize of all BP entered into the pool! The house (me) keeps nothing.

Multiple entries are allowed if you want to cover a few different bases with different predictions, but they must be made with a different legal alt, and that alt must also pay the 10 BP entry fee.

Users are limited to 1 entry post, so put all of your predictions in 1 post. If you accidentally forgot a category or would like to change your predictions, you must edit the original post to remove your predictions and make a NEW UNEDITED POST with your complete entry.

ONLY UNEDITED POSTS, POSTED BEFORE THE ENTRY DEADLINE WILL BE COUNTED IF THEY ARE INCOMPLETE THE MISSING PREDICTIONS WILL BE COUNTED AS WRONG PREDICTIONS.

TIES

In the event of a tie for all of the main categories the scores will then be checked for the tie-breaker categories.

Predictions made in the tie-breaker categories will have no impact on your score, unless there is a tie to be broken.

In the event that there is still a tie, even after the tie-breaker, the BP Prize Pool will be split evenly between the winners.

If a winner does not submit any tie-breaker predictions, and there is a tie, they forfeit their tie-breaking entry.

NEW SCORING METHOD FOR 2010

Since the Oscars have decided to switch things up, increasing the nominations from 5 to 10 in the Best Picture category, I in turn have increased your choices from 1 to 2 to keep the odds similar.

When entering you must indicate which prediction is your 1st pick, and which is your 2nd pick.

Correct 1st Pick: 2 points

Correct 2nd Pick: 1 point

Incorrect Pick: 0 points

FOR ALL OTHER CATEGORIES YOU WILL ONLY MAKE A SINGLE PREDICTION – IF BY SOME MISTAKE YOU ENTER 2 PICKS FOR EACH CATEGORY I WILL ONLY CONSIDER YOUR FIRST PICK FOR SCORING

Correct picks in all other categories will be awarded 1 point. Incorrect, 0 points.

The sum of all predictions in the “main categories” will be your Final Score.

The entrant with the highest score will win. There are no runners up, this is winner takes all.

If there is a tie, tie-breaker categories will be scored in the same fashion amongst the tied winners only.

FORMATTING YOUR ENTRY

For consistency please format your entries as such:

Best Picture

1. First Pick

2. Second Pick

Best Director

Only Pick

Etc.

DEADLINE

12:00AM Eastern Time March 7th, 2010.

Oscars will air at 8:00PM Eastern March 7th.

Award(s) will be distributed on the 8th barring any complications with entries.

TL;DR

Pay me 10 BP to enter. Choose 1 from each category, and 2 from Best Picture. Person with the highest score wins the entire pool of BP. Tie-Breaker categories counted in event of tie. If you edit your entry you fail. Grand prize subject to entries.

Here’s the deal. The rule is that h0g may not receive anything in exchange for hosting the contest. He isn’t. He’s giving away the entire BP pool. Essentially, he’s acting as an escrow account.

That said, for the sake of “cleanliness”, I’m deleting posts that had anything to do with whether the contest is allowed or not.

Yea, 10 BP is pretty much nothing, so if you lose it’s not much of a loss, but if you win, you get 120+ BP. Pretty good deal IMO.
