Anybody here residential-like? I need some first hand knowledge of the Frozen North. If I go, I’m going to have a job and a roof over my head when I get there. Google can tell me a lot, but I still want to cover all the bases. If I go, I’m staying for about two years. |

I don’t understand. Are you telling me to tap my computer screen? That doesn’t make any sense. |

What part?
I lived near Denali Park for about 7 months, and after the first couple weeks I hated it. |

I’ve always wanted to live in Alaska. Freezing temps and lots of snow always intrigues me. I’ve always loved snow and snowstorms. Maybe that’s cause I’ve lived in SoCal all my life. I’m totally jealous. |

Anchorage is a huge city, in terms of area. You have to drive miles to get anywhere. Also the streets are crawling with Natives, they are everywhere and nobody likes them. They’re like the Alaskan version of Log in to see images! |

If you’re going to move there, make sure you’re a man. If not, bring a lot of gun.

Also in Anchorage its not as cold as everyone thinks. It rains much more than it snows during the non-winter months. I think due to some ocean current or something that keeps the climate milder than the interior. I was in Anchorage for a couple weeks during August/September 2000 and it was about 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit. I may not notice as much because I’m from Michigan and no part of Alaska I stayed in really felt blisteringly cold.
Only other thing I can think of is that there are a million active volcanoes nearby to be wary of, and earthquakes are common off the coast. |
