Alright, you know the basic calculator that’s under accessories? Well, I made a shortcut on my desktop to it. Then I deleted the shortcut. I know it was a shortcut though cuz it had the little arrow.

And so I thought I was just deleting a shortcut… but apparently it deleted what vista knows as “calculator” (it does not show up under accessories or show up when you search “calculator” ) Here’s the thing though – I still have calc.exe. I still have the program. It still runs… but whatever knew it as “calculator” is gone. It’s kind of annoying. What’s up with this? How do I fix it? I want it to show up under accessories and when I search.

go to the .exe and create a shortcut, move the shortcut back to accessories

Yep, actually just figured it out myself. If it could only all be this simple.

Yeah, when I made the shortcut it said “shortcut to calc.exe” or whatever so I just renamed it to “Calculator”.

What happened was I hit start>typed in “calculator”>dragged to desktop. It will make a shortcut if you do that with a program, but if you do that with a shortcut it will drag the shortcut from it’s location.(“Calculator” in accessories is a shortcut – I didn’t know that before).

Well, had that been the actual program what I had done would not have deleted it. I know you meant like another guy though, like probably some dumbbum who thinks he knows everything.
