If I remember correctly, that only applies for old CRT monitors – LCDs are evenly backlit no matter what you put on the screen, so there’s no difference in energy use.

And trees live off of CO2, so the “we’re cutting down on CO2 emissions” doesn’t really…make sense.

Enviromentalism isn’t about turning your life into a non-consuming one. Just about making away with useless or wasteful consumption.

That said, yes. CRT is the only kinda monitor that energy-saving is relevant for.. You’re better off just shutting off the comp once in a bit when you aren’t using it.

Or not, once Episode 3 comes out.
