You got a smudge there Phin... oh wait thats Trouts feces

All right, last time we did the book club it didn’t go well. Part of that was my fault, part of it was just a general lack of organization…which was also kind of my fault. It was all my fault. But, I love books and I know a lot of other players do too, so…maybe we should try again.

This time, maybe with a better book choice we can have something more successful. Or not, doesn’t really matter.

ALSO, if you like the idea, say what kinds of books you like to read or a suggestion for books to read. Describe the books a little or give a link to the description to let people get an idea of it.

Oh man, if Crying of Lot 49 turned people off, Blood Meridian is going to drown them in cold water. Though, I would be up for reading it again.

Also, if you like the idea, say what kinds of books you like or what books you might want to read. It can be a book you’ve already read, but dicussion might be better if it’s something new.

Trying to create drama to drum up the ratings by any means necessary!

If you do really, really short books, then I’m in.

I’m talking books I actually have a chance of reading in a couple of days. Like Green Eggs and Ham.

Here are some of my suggestions:

You Poor Monster: Or This Should Answer Your Questions, My Son by Michael Kun- I read this about two years ago and it totally blew me away. The gimmick is that the book you’re holding isn’t supposed to be on the market yet. While the story focuses on the problems the main character is having with his neighbor, through foot notes and removed chapters another story starts to come across. It’s an easy and very engaging read.

Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer- This is another book with a gimmick. Actually it has about 1,000 gimmicks, including writing in dialect, jumping around in time line, author’s quasi-self-insertion, and parts of the story told in letters. Underneath the gimmicks is a decent story about a guy going to the Ukraine to find out more about his grandfather’s past. Some people love it, some people hate it. Would make for good discussion.

These books I haven’t read, but want to:

The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst- This book was actually written by someone who used to play Forumwarz. A man’s wife dies and he tries to teach their dog to speak so he can find out the truth behind it. Sounds like an interesting premise and we’d be reading one of our own.

Generation Kill by Evan Wright- Non-fiction. It’s follows a unit of First Recon Marines during the first month or so of the Iraq War. They made a mini-series for HBO based on the book. Probably not a light-hearted read, but it’s probably interesting.

Well I reading Alice on Wonderland. Clbumic books, fairy tales and comics is the best for me.

Wasn’t it so ****ing good? It left me unsettled, but I couldn’t really put my finger on why, did you get the same feeling? We’ll have to talk about it sometime.

Even though we didn’t really talk about it, I still really liked reading The Crying of lot 49; I’m glad it was at least recommended because it was good.

Hey this is Professor Commie PhD. I am a total **** stain.

I am willing to do this, only I am flat broke, so getting new books is sooo not an option for me. Plenty of short stories are available online and if those are ever used, I’ll participate in the conversation. Log in to see images!

Gleebot recommended this to me. He said “it’s sweet and sad and reminds me that war is rarely noble but warriors often are.”
