I bought a few shields and equiped one of them, but then someone stole a chocolate scoop while I was shielded (at least that was when the “you’ve been screwed” message popped up), how is that possible?

Yes it didn’t even show “you shielded an attack” and I shielded 4 attacks in the past domination round

This just happened to me, I had two shield cards and it didn’t show a single message for a shield being destroyed, just the message that a scoop was stolen.

I’m pretty sure I did but seeing as I’m only the second person to post about it I’m going to bumume I didn’t. It didn’t prevent me from getting a medal or anything so I’m not that concerned, I just thought it might be a bug since someone else had posted about it too.

I believe when there is an onslaught of attacks in a short period, only the attacks are shown to you.

To prevent clicking through 31 shield notifies to see that you were actually attacked.

Suppose it does this on small scale too (only one attack got through), but it would have to be in a short period of time.

All this is bumuming you lost your shields (consumed), because this happened to me when I had 7 shields (one equiped, 6 in hand, auto-equip enabled). I only got the attack notifications and all my shields were consumed.

Made me freak out at first (I got hit like 15 times), but it will keep the spam down when you are being viciously attacked.
