Disclaimer: This idea is and sounds completely ****ing insane, but read through it.

Dumpvoting isn’t something that’s easily stopped, but the game COULD be altered to not reward it.

My proposal: Instead of giving 1 Log in to see images! for WINNING a round of INCIT, change the scoop system to resemble forum/item buildr’s scoop system – 1 scoop for every 5 upvotes. This way, the game actually rewards people for being funny. Unfunny entries that win by dumpvoting generally don’t get upvoted as much as the actually funny entries, so this system may actually work.

Downvoting isn’t really an issue. INCIT wins don’t get deleted in downvote frenzies afaik, so the funny entries are always there to vote on (the best ones would already be at the top anyway)

EDIT: Granted, INCIT isn’t inhenerently broken, but this still might be a cool idea.

this does sound like a good idea.., granted though, INCIT submissions are generally voted on way less than submissions… maybe up the reward or something. But surprisingly, this does seem like a nice dumpvote fix.

I agree, but 1 question. Would this be great timesulative, as in you get 2 votes on 1 submission, then 3 votes on another to get your chocolate? Otherwise at night when there are just 5 people playing it would be p. hard to get all 5 votes.

So vote-whoring for the win? Really, not the funniest submissions would win the most scoops (almost nobody ever sees them anyway) but those who can mobilize the most people to vote on their submissions.

also, you’re able re-vote on incit posters every so often. seems like any time ET makes changes, the server ‘forgets’ which incit posters you’ve voted on, so you can vote for them again (including your own). I voted all my submissions up less than a month ago, but I can already vote for them all again, and my previous positive votes are still counted.

this is an obvious attempt for ghax to exploit the system. with over 2000 incit wins and a few dedicated friends, he could potentially get himself 2000 chocolate scoops every time the voting information is lost.

Not to mention you could open a tab to all of your submissions and upvote them all simultaneously whenever the server drops your voting records. Currently Choco may technically be infinite in possibility, but it’s impossible to time and near random. Let’s not break it even if it would encourage a bit more play in INCIT.

Alternately, you could make it so that you get a chocolate scoop for winning an INCIT round and/or for getting a certain number of votes. Either for getting X votes in a single submission or it could keep a tally which would eventually get you some even if you keep losing so long as SOMEONE keeps voting for you. You could get multiple choco for one submission but it makes it easier for some sort of reward when playing with 15 other people at a time.

Dumpvoting isn’t a problem. With the gallons of horribly unfunny pictures on flickr it’s unreasonable to think that all entries must be funny AND those entries must be the winners. Not to mention getting 5 votes for a submission is extremely difficult. This is just going to limit the incentive for most people to get Chocolate, since some can’t get it any other way than through INCIT.

It’s one of the main reasons people don’t play INCIT as much now as they used to afaik.

There used to be a time where it could take hours to get a 5th player. INCIT resurged for a while and now it sounds like it’s in a downswing.

It’s not the lack of chocolate, it’s the game itself that I think pushes people away. Mods haven’t been able to add new pictures for months, so after a while, you just cycle through the old ones again and again until people get sick of them.
