Too many times the voting period slips by while I’m looking at something else in another tab because my attention span won’t stretch to staring at that same picture for another 2 minutes.

ghax here with a suggestion:

Any that comes online is added to a list. Anyone that doesn’t play for 5 rounds gets removed from the list. If a submission round is going and EVERYONE on the list has submitted AND the number of people online has not changed in 45 seconds, then it automatically goes to voting.

This weeds out players that are “online” but simply aren’t doing anything. It also allows rounds to proceed much more quickly.
