I would just like to highlight that Stalin was not a dictator, he very much had checks and balances like most political figures. It doesn’t mean, however, that he didn’t have great power.

Also, we must take into consideration that the quality of life increased dramatically under the Bolsheviks. Yes, it may have been less to that of some Americans. But as a whole, the people were given jobs and housing, universal healthcare. Things that were denied to many Americans, who still remained homeless and sick.

I have no doubt that if capitalisim was allowed to flourish in Russia instead of a Bolshevik revolution, Russia would have had her resources and earth raped for the sake of profit. It just wouldn’t be able to compete the already established powers and as such under capitalism, she would be cast aside and left writhing.
