More like one hundred years of STOLITUDE, amirite? Srsly though, don’t read 100 years of solitude. It is possibly the suckiest book ever. EVER. |

I have to agree with you on Cien Anos de Soledad. Not a fan.
I would be willing to try any of the other books PCP suggested or Lamb as CoreyJess mentioned. Though I was planning on giving my copy to someone to borrow soon.
Also, Professor, it seems you like your realism magical and non-traditional structures. You should check out “Tropic of Orange” by Karen Yama****a and “Why Did I Ever” by Mary Robison. |

Well, I’ll agree that One hundred years of solitude is not a book that everyone can enjoy, but I, for one, could not put it down once I started reading. Comic, I’ll be sure to check out both those books (in fact, I’m reviewing an Amazon order for them as I’m typing this message). And, yeah, I’m a big fan of both non-traditional structures and magic realism; for some reason, that genre fascinates me. |

Just so you know: Tropic of Orange is magical realism and Why Did I Ever has an odd structure. I didn’t want it to seem like there was a lot of over lap, though there is some. Both are pretty good, though the end of Tropic of Orange is a little disappointing. |

Haha, it’s not even cat poems. It’s a bunch of topics and none of them are particularly interesting. It’s like your grandpa’s coffee table book. I’ll have to wait for them to get back to me, but if it gets too close to the end of the month I’ll just read the online version posted here.
Here’s just a TASTE of how fascinating and brilliant these poems are:
“One of the fondest memories I have, as a high school lad in my teens, Is of the time that I spent alone in the woods, with all of the bliss that that means. My dad paid a man to build me a shack, not far from a lovely wee brook, Where I could escape the noise of the town with an organ, some music, and a book.” |

Ah, naive poetry. This used to be all the rage around the turn of the 18th century. |

Up to chapter 6 now. Initial impression is that the author is excessively wordy, but that may be just a result of the time the book was written in. Otherwise the book is good, despite a few parts that forced an auditory “what the ****” from me. I do believe I may have to read this one twice to get a firm grasp of the material. |
