Hey guys,

I’m looking to get a good-quality headset for interfacing with my PC. Because headsets happen to be a Forumwarz meme, I thought I’d ask for suggestions here! Log in to see images!

* They need to be adjustable. None of that behind-the-ear ****.

* The mic has to be top-quality.

* I’d prefer something comfortable over the ears, without the foam flecking off and getting in your ear-hole.

* Wireless is a bonus, although I know there aren’t too many makes.

Would you suggest anything in particular?

We are foe.

You want Blutooth so you can wear it in public and seem really tech smart.

Well, even though you said “no behind the ear ****”, I must say, the 360 Wireless headset is very, very comfortable.

The headset itself is 60 bucks, and the adapter to connect it to your PC is 20.

I have one that’s really cool, it’s a Plantronics something-something…

Hang on, I’ll go check my eBay and get you the model number; it was like $30 shipped to my door. It’s neat.

EDIT: It’s a Plantronics 625 or some crap; I couldn’t find it in my eBay thing but here’s a link to another site where they’re selling them for a decent price. You can wear it and pretend you’re this guy: Log in to see images!

Sweet…I think I saw a Plantronics at this store I was at. Might give it a second look. Thanks!

JB, why are you thinking of a headset? Why not invest in a real recording mic and good headphones? Admittedly, they’re not great for online gaming, but if you care about your production quality they’re way better.

Investment cost can be very high though; I’m running a Rode NT1000 and a saffire LE interface and it set me back about 600$. For me, who’s fascinated by recording, it’s a worthwhile investment.

How about a 182 diamond-encrusted, 18-carat gold Bluetooth? Set you back about $12,000. But driving in a Ferrari 599XX, you’ve got to have some serious bookoo bucks.

I don’t think it’d be worthwhile for my purposes. I’m not using it for gaming, it’s just for voice chat and recording notes with speech-to-text. I don’t want to have to speak into a proper mic, either. I like to get my lean on.

I might use it to record some Tubsonics, but I actually like the gritty sound that comes from a cheap pair.

Thanks for the advice, guys! In the end, however, I’m going to try out the Logitech ClearChat Wireless.

I hate being stuck at my desk when I have to chat or record sound, so we’ll see how it goes.

It finally came in the mail today! Damn you, Canada Border Services Agency, and your overwrought customs fees.

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Hope you didn’t have it shipped UPS. They always screw you on cross-border customs duties.

I have a Plantronic(s?) somethingorother I stole from my wife. It works quite nicely, but was ferociously expensive – she got it to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking.
